“Regular running and strengthening exercises along with proper balanced home food is at the core of trying to being healthy. Mostly it’s run for three days of the week. Sundays is long distance run and Tuesdays or Thursdays could be elevation, intervals or tempo runs. Sunday runs could be anything ranging from 10 to 21 kms. On other days it’s some core strengthening exercises for upto an hour at home. One day of the week is total rest,” he says.
Sports has always been a key interest area – be it cricket, football or tennis for Gang. “I also play lawn tennis for about 60-90 minutes, whenever I can find time for it. That’s a good physical exercise plus helps me keep active and agile. Owing to covid we have currently paused it for some time,” he says.
It’s only home food for Gang and his family. “We never order out. This has been our routine for many years now. It helps us cut extra junk and heavy outside stuff. Being vegetarians, diet includes a lot of green veggies. Morning breakfast is heavy with lot of nuts and fruits. Evening meals are mostly light and timely. We wrap up our dinner by 7.30 max. Liquid intake through the day is good and it’s not just water but also a lot of lime water and fresh juices etc,” he says.
Work takes up a lot of mind-time for Gang. But other than that, reading and listening to music are two regular things on his list. “Spending time with my daughter and playing board games with her is also one of the major ways to relax and de-stress. And an occasional classic movie is one of the cherished indulgences. I eat mostly all kinds of nuts and variety of fruits. Fresh juices, soups and salads are also a regular part of our daily diet to keep the mind sharp,” he says.
Morning and evening prayers are a must in the Gang house. “Every morning we play few chants in the house. My favoured playlist is Gayatri Mantra, Aditya Hridya Sotram, Hanuman Chalisa and Vishnu Shastranam. We have a small temple and just the scent of incense is good enough to relax you. Besides that, I love my small collection of plants and spend a quality 20-30 minutes nourishing them everyday. It’s a real soul booster,” he ends.
